So, what exactly goes on in that dj box at Optimo? Apart from drinking too much and fannying about loads, there are quite a lot of toys to play with that manipulate the sound, create sound, play the sound for us and generally contribute to the Optimo sound design. We don't use all of these every week but some of them are always there........
The ubiquitous Technics SL1210 turntable - we use two of these, but for how much longer?
Roland!!!! Groovesampler, sequencer and moody girl with a life of her own all rolled into one. Roland has now mostly retired due to financial disagreements, so we can only afford to book her a couple of times a year now. This is all very sad as she was a HUGE part of what helped make Optimo.
MAC! - A 1.67ghz Apple G4 Powerbook used for live processing, live music mainly using ABLETON LIVE, mp3s and Roland's voice. Ableton loves lots of RAM so we recommend getting as much as you can afford. We use 2gigs.
