A Midsummer's Day Dream With Nurse With Wound

Nurse With Wound live at The Tramway, Saturday June 26th

In conjunction with our friends at Tramway, we present "A Midsummer's Day Dream". This is a double headed event, the first part being a series of FREE daytime events in a relaxed environment, culminating in a ticketed, early evening performance by Nurse With Wound with full visual extravaganza.

The iconoclastic Nurse With Wound were formed in 1978. Mired in influences ranging from dada and surrealism to krautrock and freewheeling improvisation, they (main man Steven Stapleton plus various friends) have created a dizzying body of work that features some of the most astonishing, beautiful, amusing and sometimes just plain absurd music of the last 30 years. We are huge, huge fans and it has been a long held dream to lure the Nurse to Glasgow for one of their very rare live performances.

Nurse With Wound will be performing in Scotland for the first ever time. We decided to make this an early evening event so that people are free to pursue other Saturday night activities afterwards. They will be on stage around 7pm and the performance should finish around 9. Tickets are 15 / 13 and are available from Tramway, Tickets Scotland and Monorail Records.

The daytime events kick of at 12 noon and people are free to come and go as they please. The daytime events are free. The cafe / bar will be open all day as will the Tramway's garden. There will be music throughout the day from Optimo (Espacio) as well as contributions and performances from some of Scotland's finest artists - a live projection / sound installation from Tom Scholefield and Neil Clements, performance from Muscles of Joy, Cara Tolmie, Luke Fowler, Ray Daledower (on 8 turntables!) and Torsten Lauschmann, a record stall by Volcanic Tongue, films, and more to be added. This is a family friendly event - all are welcome.

Hopefully this will be the first in a series of day / evening events where we present something very different to our club events yet maintain the Optimo guarantee of high production values and 100% entertainment.

This event is a co-production between Tramway and Optimo.
