Well, I don't know what you want to hear. I think you've been given tons of good advice from a variety of folks on here.

I just can't imagine spending all that money on a hobby, particularly when you don't have much vinyl to begin with. If you are intending to mix older music (I prefer older music by and large), then vinyl is obviously more status and cool and in some cases, easier to find than CDs or digital formats, but if most of yr "collection" (Sorry, but using this word for something like music, something very personal always makes me cringe...I don't "collect" music, I enjoy it and live it) is CD and digital, I've absolutely no idea why you would want to spend a wad on record decks unless you are, of course, made of money.

It's a rather expensive and addictive thing to play around with...

sorry..maybe i didn't write it correct...i have ableton, final scratch etc...but it's vinyl all the way for me....music isn't about being 'practical'...it's from the heart.

the digital way...doesn't work for me,...
i cannot relate to the files on screen as music/tracks....it gets lost in *blahBlah*...words on screen...

i don't manage/organise my files properly(which if your using these sort of programs you kinda need to)..
vinyl work better in the chaos that is my life..

vinyl is impractical, expensive, space comsuming and life consuming..

but god dam it's the most fun....

See that Behringer BCD3000 I have, you can plug your decks through it, so it's an inexpensive way of getting an mp3 and vinyl mixer all in one. It has a multichannel soundcard so you can cue up properly, it comes with Traktor LE which is excellent easy to use mp3 mixing software, and you can apply the digital effects to the imput from the decks as well as the mp3s.

While you don't have a huge amount of vinyl, this is a very cost effective way of being able to mix between vinyl and mp3. It costs 170 from RubaDub.

The knobs feel a wee bit plasticky, but it's a small price to pay.

Me: You're right, this is the least adventurous club in Scotland.
G: Yeah, it should be more housey.
Me: er.

wow, i apologise for using the word collection... (not really).

What perhaps i should have said is that i spend shit loads of money on music at the moment as that is what i enjoy, it is my passion. I want to take it to the next level through decks. I dont have shit loads of money but a lot of what i have goes on music. I am willing to spend the money becasue i know i will fucking love it.

Thanks for all the advice, very helpful. will report back

It was incredible, djcolza was a legend in the lovely port town of greenock. It was for classy folks as well mind, nae trainers allowed in txt.

DJColza would spin the wheels of steel for the unwashed, poorly educated neanderthal masses in their ben sherman shirts and shiny shoes as they swigged cheap lagger before going through an internal door to Greenocks premier night spot, the one, the only, word up. Where the cheap beer and colzas wicked tunes would infuse in their heads causing wild violence and thuggery.

God those were the days, how i survived those years in greenock with only a broken nose and one attempted stabbing i don't know.

i had nearly blocked it out but it's all flooding back. Me stomping about in my dads shoes wired on alcohpops, the same twenty songs being played in the backroom every single night and back to yours to shiver away in the coldest house in Scotland. Grim
