What a ridiculous thread. It may as well be titled "Which band, which some people this is the best band ever, do you not think is the best band ever?"

nah, don't agree at all LM. i think it's definitely a valid thread even if i abhor the thought that jimi hendrix is overrated.

pink bloody floyd
the sodding doors.

the libertines
la roux (how anyone can listen to that without wanting to pull their ears off is beyond me)

whilst i think the rolling stones have some good tunes, i dont think they deserve to mentioned in the same breath as the beatles as they so often are. i used to not get the who but i do now.

led zep and james brown overrated?? really?? i can only think you have not heard the best of their output DB. and overexposed doesnt equal overrated.

I think he's (Theo Parrish) has fallen foul of CarlCraigitis, he's been booked as a dj but he's not really a dj as such.

That said I saw him in 1999 in Fabric, he was last on in the Detroit room of the Reinforced Records 10th birthday. He played a selection that I can only describe as electronic hard funk, sort of like Prince does house. Amazing.

Just found the flyer:

Come on now, James Brown???

I agree about The Stone Roses being overrated but, I will always have a soft spot because they were my entry point into music.

And this dreadful new "Caribou" shite

I haven't heard what he is doing now, but 'new' stretches it somewhat for a guy who has been around for ten years.

I think this would also have to include him somehow becoming 'rated' while I was looking away as well, but whatever. Always a Four Tet lite really.

aye. i dont think caribou fits in with this thread - it really hasn't had all that much exposure anyway....maybe other than you seeing people going on about it the new album on facebook, gina (!)

Well, maybe. But what about the XX then?

Totally agree with Queen, they are one band i absolutely HATE.

Don't agree with the Roger Moore part though, he was the best James Bond.

Personally I love the XX album. But there's only been one, so again its hard to say whether they are overrated or not.
