Not really enough gushing praise / musical education / sorry to see it go I can really say. Take it as given. It will be much missed.

Man, last 7 had better blow everything else out the water.

Lightning Monkey: Rolling with laughter every time I read that post - can you get Zander a lifeguard's whistle and high chair?

Been fairly regularly for 6 years. My employers will be confused as my attendance on Mondays will exponentially increase. A rare clubnight with character now lost

I started regularly going to Optimo back in 2004 I think, with Mein Crustacean. As he mentioned previously, one night we went looking around in the club for people off echatio (as we had also started using this) and the first person we met was djeuan, who in turn introduced us to DDK, Cara, Barry, Davie, Dave, and loads and loads of other folk. From then on in I went religiously week in week out, and I can look back on it as being the best clubbing and social experiences I have ever had. Musically it has revolutionised what I listen to and made me much more open minded and passionate about all different genres of music.

As time went past our group got smaller, people got jobs, moved away... etc etc. I have still continued to go to the club as much as I can, and have in turn met many other new friends, including people who would later become my closest friends in the world. I think that is part of what has made the club great, and allowed it to last so long... there has always been an influx of new people, who then get wrapped up in their initial love affair with the club. I have met some great, great people through Optimo such as... Emma, Euan, Cara, Jill, Graham, Morgan, Sam, Disco Dave, Wee Davie, David Sinclair, Danny... the list would actually take me hours to type.

It has been an absolute pleasure to get to know Keith and Jonnie (two of the nicest and most approachable guys ever) and everyone involved in the club. Over the past year I have also had the privilege of working for Optimo, which has been something I have taken great pleasure and pride in.

Optimo means much more to me than I will ever be able to express. I know for a fact when I am older I will look back upon the club and be proud to have been there, and been a part of it. Optimo has been an immensely positive force on my life and I imagine I will not be the only one crying on the dance-floor on the final night.

Long live Optimo.

i get the feeling the last night will have a queue like tickets scotland before titp briefs go on sale.

just put in for a holiday on the 12th so i can have one last optimo.

i think my favourite ever was the night the Presets played. i started the sunday phoning my mate from the middle of france to see if he was up for it. cue me tearing up the autoroutes to get a ferry, then back up just in the nick of time.

or the night alloy mental played. awesome-o

Whats this Save Optimo group on Facebook all about?

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Save-Optimo/402528377066?ref=nf

Forcibly contain K&J in the DJ booth by any means necessary - make them play records on pain of death from here until the end of all time?

Dudes, if they wanna end it, let them end it! Build a bridge and get over it.

i know its quite daft eh. i suppose its a sign of respect or fondness for the club... but save optimo from what exactly? itself? someone else said on facebook that it makes it sound like they are going to build flats over optimo... haha

Hah - I just read the Hacienda book by Peter Hook yesterday - very entertaining.

And yeah the whole "save" thing - it bugs me cos it's not giving any support to what the guys wanna do next - like they will still be running the Sundays at the Sub Club, just doing different things, yaknowotImean?
